Teaching a Puppy

• Teach your puppy how to sit: While you are making the puppy obey your commands, you can start with the easiest one which is making your puppy learn how to sit. You can do this by holding a treat close to your puppy’s nose. Then you must move your hand upwards so that his head follows the treat, this will cause his bottom to lower. Now once he has sat, say the word “Sit” and now give him the treat.
• Teach him the Word “Come”: You can’t just pull the leash and think your dog will follow you. You need to teach him the word “Come”. To do that, you have to put a leash and a collar around your dog’s neck. Now, you have to go down to his level and say the word “Come” and then slowly pull the leash. As soon as he starts following you give him some treat.

Teach him the Word “Stay”

After you have taught him about the word “Sit” you need to ask him to stay. Once he sits down, you need to open your palm and say, “Stay”. Now take some steps back and give him a treat if he stays at that position. This is an advanced stage of dog obedience training, so this might take some time.

Teach him the Word “Down”

Teaching the word down is not an easy thing. This is because this signifies submissive position. You could find some treat which has a very good smell and you can hold it in your closed fist. Now hold your hand up to the snout of your pup and once he sniffs it, take your hand to the floor so that he follows the smell.

Slowly slide your hand along the ground so that his body follows his head. Once he is in that down position, say the word “Down” and give him the treat.
